The first three bites came with sort of a grimace and his tongue just played with the food, eventually accidently spitting it out. Then I'd get the "hey, where did it go?" look? Then I gave him his fourth bite.... waiting.... it didn't come back out.... waiting.... *gulp*... Yay!! He swallowed it! Another bite... he swallowed it! He learned what it was and how to swallow it. It was so exciting! After a few more bites he would open his mouth once the little blue gerber baby spoon was close enough for his liking. However, his whole head would move. I guess he can't quite comprehend that his bottom jaw is suppose to move to open your mouth; his top jaw and the rest of his head moves up until he looks like a baby bird waiting for vomit. Once he finshed about a tablespoon and a half, he got uninterseted and started playing so I took his cues of being finished and put the food away. In case you'd like to know, he is eating Earth's Best organic rice cereal. After 4-5 days eating this, I'll feed him oatmeal cereal for 4-5 days. Once he's shown that he can deal with both of these, they will be alternated.
After breakfast, Cube and I were off to Grandpa's so I could finish a paper. He got to hang out with Grandpa lots and lots and even got some rays of sunshine into his schedule. I think he secretly loves when Mommy's swamped with academics because he gets to swing and be spoiled all day, granted Grandpa is available. When it was time to pick up Daddy from work, he got to play even more. I'm glad he had a playful day, regardless of my homework.
