Food & a Friend

Breakfast: His Daddy fed him his first solid meal of the day. It consisted of a of oatmeal cereal with some rice cereal mixed in to add a little extra. They watched cartoons and waited for Mommy to get home from school.

Dinner: Rice cereal mixed with sweet potato. He likes the rice cereal more with stuff added to it. I tasted rice cereal the 2nd day he had it. Boy, that was disgusting; it's all pasty and flavorless. I get where the kid is comin' from.
Therefore, sweet potato cereal :) It's a hit. He ate every last spoonful- about 2 ounces to be exact. He loves food. I think he got it from me, and pretty sure a lot of other people would agree too. :]

Aurora: A little bit after dinner, Aurora's mommy invited us over.Without hesitation, we went. Brandy(Auroras mom) is becoming one my very good friends and we will probably hang out with them more and more as time passes. Cube and Aurora get along great. They have yet to realize they're both on the same boat, but they are aware of each other. Face to face, however, it's a different story- not as interested in each other, but they're getting there. It's so exciting to watch them grow and develop on different roads at the same time. Plus, they like looking at each other so that doesn't hurt.

Cube says goodnight y'all!

Catch Up (sat-wed)

SATURDAY
[grandma came to town!]
He had his tongue wrapped around that little ring. My guess is
that it was very tasty at the moment.

On our way home after a bar-b-q at his friend, Aurora's house!
Grandma, Mommy, and Cube had a lot of fun.
Aurora is 4 days younger than him
and has a dog named Bob. He likes dogs now. :]

SUNDAY
[Cube, meet Walker]
And they lived happily ever after.
He's starting to hold his own bottle from time to time.
He's so cute with his little hands when he does!
Unfortunately, Grandma went home by this time and didn't
get to cath this, but I'm sure he wishes she had, and a pic had to be taken.
MONDAY
[laundry day]
I put him on the clean clothes and he just watched me put clothes
in his hamper(the one with green) and we rolled it together to the dryer.
He was very content, and I think kind of sad he had to get out...
Although I would imagine that would be very cumfy. Lol
TUESDAY
[Hello, sweet potatoes!]
He loves loves loves his sweet potatoes!!
"Yummy yummy sweet potatoes!" 5 times fast
has an outcome of this face:
WEDNESDAY
[lazy day]
His johnny jump-up secretly doubles as a teething toy.
(Don't worry, I clean it regularly.)
After getting a little restless, we went to go see Daddy at work,
and, of course, everybody loved him and he loved everybody.
He's such a smiley little prince.
When we made it home, Mommy had to study for an exam
the next day(which is why I had to play catch up.
Sorry guys, but the semester is coming to an end, so I gotta start bucklin' down.
But don't worry- a day of his life will never be left out.)
This is what our life is lately while Daddy is at work.

Gotta study study study! Ttyl!

Daddy Days

Thursday and Friday..

Rudy was off so we had a lot of family time, and Cube got lots of Daddy time. :]

THURSDAY~
They hung out in the morning while I was at school. Afterwards, it was all about the redbox and Domino's. It so nice to just lounge around the house and munch on pizza.
This first picture was during a playtime while I got Cube's cereal ready. He had oatmeal for the first time, and is now eating 2 or more meals a day. He really swallowed down his oatmeal. I'm pretty sure he likes it more than the rice cereal.
And later on in the day, he went through a very huge milestone!! He understands that something still exists even if they can't be seen. I had him sitting on the counter and I was standing right in front of him playing with him. Rudy walked around to my right behind me, and then back around to my left while making a bottle. And I noticed something... before Rudy appeared again on my left side, Cube was already looking there! He understood where he was going to be before he was actually there- meaning that even though he couldn't see him for the split second he walked behind me, he understood that he still existed and would show up in sight very soon. This may not seem that huge to some, but in terms of milestones, this is as big as sitting up! I was so excited I started dancing around the kitchen with the baby in the air. He was happy then, too. Lol.

FRIDAY~
Friday morning we went to HEB. Then I had an eye exam, so the boys just chilled and put up groceries 'til I got back. Once I got back, I found a naptime in progress(as seen below). Then we all ate and got ready for the mall. Ingram doesn't mean Mommy's mecca anymore; Cube got so much clothes, it's ridiculous. In fact, I'm going back to the mall tomorrow to exchange for a different size. Let's just say a certain male person got a little too excited with Batman onesie & bib sets and bought WAY too many of the same size.
After the mall we went to Olive Garden to wait for Tia Chelle, Uncle Calvin, cousins Landon & Peyton, Mamo, and her boyfriend. It was Mamo's birthday so we had to go out to eat.
Best Buy and Barnes and Nobles was the next thing on our agenda since they're practically in the same parking lot as the restaurant.
Soon it was time for Mr. Fussy pants to eat and nap. He'd been up for a super long time due to his infatuation with ceiling lights everywhere we go. We came home, and haven't done much. Rudy and I have been reading our new books, and Cube has been floating from lap to lap. He's drinking his last bottle right now and then we're all going to bed.

Sweet dreams to all!

Easter Monday

Regardless of the "easter" part, today was still a Monday.. blah...
He played and ate and slept and peed and ate and ate cereal and played and slept and ate and peed. Long boring day- probably even for him. He wanted to play a lot, but I had homework so he just swung and tried to eat a stuffed animal.

He did, however, enjoy his rice cereal lunch.

MMmmm...... rice cerealll.......

Easter Sunday

This morning was day 2 of solids. He ate his rice cereal pretty fast today. He knows what it is and how it works now. Cube ate a LOT too- about twice as much as yesterday. And I did a terrible thing.. I tasted it. It was so gross. "Que asco!" I squealed. Cube laughed. He knew what was going on- I don't doubt that.
Once everyone was all showered and fresh, we all went to my dad's house for bbq and family, including Great Grandma Flores, Grandpa, Ra-Ra, and Michelle. Everyone ohh'ed and ahh'd over his smiles and occassional bashfulness(if that's a word). He only got put down when he was sleeping, that spoiled little brat! Cube even got to have a couple nibbles of a potato from my potato salad. It was only the inside of a potato I mushed up and put on my finger, but he smiled at the satisfaction of having a non-pastey food on his tongue.

Cube basically lounged around and got to watch everyone else eat. But that's ok- today wasn't an important holiday anyway. Yeah, it's his FIRST Easter, but he couldn't care less. Next year he'll get to hunt for eggs and smash cascarones on Daddy's head.
Once people started to leave and the day was winding down, he got really cranky. The culprit? A nap; he was fighting sleep with all his fury. However, nothing can withstand a mamon, someone to lie on, and a soft singing voice when used appropriately.
Once the shut eye was all out of his system, Cube continued to play with his Grandpa while Mommy played on her laptop. While messing around online, I entered him into a photo contest on Cutekid.com. The contest is for the best easter picture, and as we all know, he clearly took the best Easter Bunny picture in the whole world last week. However, the contest is not judged by people with good eye sight, but rather by votes. Now it's time for you to do your part- Go vote for Cube so he can win! We all know he deserves this, so let's give him something to brag about when he's older. Here's the link. I know you'll do the right thing.

First Solids!

Ladies and gentlemen! I have an announcement! He ate rice cereal!
The first three bites came with sort of a grimace and his tongue just played with the food, eventually accidently spitting it out. Then I'd get the "hey, where did it go?" look? Then I gave him his fourth bite.... waiting.... it didn't come back out.... waiting.... *gulp*... Yay!! He swallowed it! Another bite... he swallowed it! He learned what it was and how to swallow it. It was so exciting! After a few more bites he would open his mouth once the little blue gerber baby spoon was close enough for his liking. However, his whole head would move. I guess he can't quite comprehend that his bottom jaw is suppose to move to open your mouth; his top jaw and the rest of his head moves up until he looks like a baby bird waiting for vomit. Once he finshed about a tablespoon and a half, he got uninterseted and started playing so I took his cues of being finished and put the food away. In case you'd like to know, he is eating Earth's Best organic rice cereal. After 4-5 days eating this, I'll feed him oatmeal cereal for 4-5 days. Once he's shown that he can deal with both of these, they will be alternated.
After breakfast, Cube and I were off to Grandpa's so I could finish a paper. He got to hang out with Grandpa lots and lots and even got some rays of sunshine into his schedule. I think he secretly loves when Mommy's swamped with academics because he gets to swing and be spoiled all day, granted Grandpa is available.
When it was time to pick up Daddy from work, he got to play even more. I'm glad he had a playful day, regardless of my homework.
